Alan Lee Tolkien Graphics
These images below are thumbnail images. Click on a thumbnail to load the full size version which resides at The University of Sweden.
I have found the Swedish site to be very slow. The Hamburg site is usually much faster.
The full size images are very large. I give the size of the full scale image file is in bytes. Even the thumbnails are large enough to be usable. I have divided Alan Lee's artwork into more than one page because of its extensiveness and the size of the thumbnail images.
You can right–click either the thumbnail or full size image and save a copy to your system. Please do this if you want a copy. Please do not reference this page on Gandolf dot Com in an anchor tag; use your copy instead.

The Entrance to Moria is featured in the January, 1993 Tolkien calendar and is present in Tolkien's World. After losing to the anger of the mountain, the Fellowship of the Ring must travel through Moria. "Well, here we are at last!" said Gandalf. "Here the Elven–way from Hollin ended. Holly was the token of the people of the land, and they planted it here to mark the end of their domain; for the West–door was made chiefly for their use in their traffic with the Lords of Moria. Those were happier days, when there was still close friendship at times between folk of different race, even between Dwarves and Elves." |

Galadriel's Mirror is featured in the June, 1993 Tolkien calendar and is present in Tolkien's World. As guests in the Golden Wood, Sam and Frodo look into the Galadriel's mirror to what they will. The air was very still, and the dell was dark, and the Elf–lady beside him tall and pale. "What shall we look for, and what shall we see?" asked Frodo, filled with awe. |
Tol Brandir |

Tol Brandir is featured in the February, 1993 Tolkien calendar and is present in Tolkien's World. Frodo goes off by himself to think. The little upland lawn was open upon the East and filled now with the early sunlight. Frodo halted and looked out over the River, far below him, to Tol Brandir and the birds wheeling in the great gulf of air between him and the untrodden isle. |
