| Interlaced, interwoven motifs characterize Celtic design, whether animal, human figure, letter, cross, or geometric. Stay a While... |
| I have scanned Celtic graphics from several sources: Please consult these fine and inexpensive books from Dover Publications for the originals as published. In the case of the Wilson book, which contains black and white line art and halftone-like illustrations, I have taken the liberty of developing a representative, limited palette and freely applying my own take in coloring these designs. This means that these colors are totally bogus and my own. If you are offended at this, and I can understand such feelings, then download these files and convert them back to black and white. I really do enjoys working with these designs and I believe that color brings them out. In the case of the other works, I have scanned at 300 dpi for the web, striking a balance between quality of detail, and speed. Better scans can be made of the individual images. I have created a thumbnail image for each graphic at an arbitrary width of 60 pixels for each. In some cases, the whole image is represented; most often, I have selected a representative part of the overall design to stand for the rest in order to get a good thumbnail image. Don't be surprized if the entire image is quite different visually from what you might expect from the thumbnail image. I have divided my collection into several parts in order to limit the size of each web page. These divisions are also arbitrary and some overlapping is inevitable. The size of the files are the HTML files themselves and do not include the sizes of the graphic thumbnails. Please E-Mail if you have comments, suggestions, &c. Please copy these files to your computer if you want a copy. Please do not link your page to any graphic files on Gandolf dot Com. |
