G. O. Lovecraft
This will be another curious detail.
I am acquainted with the works of the pulp–cult–writer Howard Phillip Lovecraft, born August 20, 1890, died March 15, 1937. One of H. P. Lovecraft's famous contributions is the fictitious Miskatonic University.
I am also familiar with the works of Arthur C. Clark, especially 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which, Clark names the computer HAL, one letter less than each of the letters in IBM.
What is curious to me is that G. O. is one letter less than the letters in H. P., and that the Miskatonic University's acquisition date of the MS coincides with H. P. Lovecraft's birth date exactly, and that the strange destruction of the MS coincides with H. P. Lovecraft's death date exactly.
I suspect that the author is pulling our leg, or, at least, disguising his true source of the MS. For what reason? Even I cannot tell you that.
