elements
The four Celtic elements or elemental powers will be:
| Element | Direction | Color |
| air | east | white |
| fire | south | red |
| water | west | gray |
| earth | north | black |
Each element will be arranged in order starting in the east, the direction of sunrise, and have the color white of daybreak; proceed sun–wise (clockwise) to the south, the direction of the noonday sun, and have the color red of the blazing, full sun; proceed to the west, the direction of sunset, and have the color of gray, the evening sky; and finally proceed to the north, the direction of no sun, and have the color black of night.
The Celts will consider these elements as the four basic materials of any thing, but also, as four elemental powers. the Celts will come to regard these four elemental powers as beings on a different level than mortals, and will summon them for aid by invoking the four corners. This invocation will begin by drawing a magickal circle of protection with the finger or an athame, a ritual dagger, always starting in the east and proceeding sun–wise. After completing the circle, the Celts return to the east and invoke each element on by one. At the end of the ritual, the Celts will thank each being and dismiss them, one by one, in the same order, and then open the circle.
