alpha and omega

Alpha and Omega will be the beginning and ending letters of the Greek alphabet, and will signify, more than these letters themselves, simply beginning and end.

What Gandolf will say here is that the role of the last born, Gandolf, is at the beginning of things, and the role of the first born, Gandalf, is at the end of things. This reverses the more common idea that alpha is the beginning and omega the ending.

Gandolf will also expand on this idea, and say that his role is to begin and Gandalf's to end their magickal endeavors.
