Mount Saint Michel

Mount Saint Michel
Mont Saint Michel
Located on an island along the western coast of Normandy, Mont Saint Michel is a medieval castle built on sharp peaked hill. It is so named after the angel Michael appeared at this site in about AD 500.

King Arthur is supposed to have fought a giant here, according to Mallory, Book V, Chapter V.

A sister location, St Michael's Mount is located across the English channel in Cornwall.
