Three Spirits Met in Camborne
Cornish Occult Folktale

A 19thC Cornish man meets three femal ghosts on Thruthall Lane in Camborne, a who becomes convinced of their sincerity.

On another occasion a well–known mining captain of the Camborne district was passing through Truthall Lane one dark evening when he was met by three female spirits. On his hailing them they replied in sepulchral tones: 'The living have naught to do with the dead'. Upon their repeating this remark for the third time the worthy captain took the hint, and laid heels to the ground with all speed—determined never more to visit Truthall Lane after nightfall.

(Jenkin, Cornwall and Its People, pages 269–270.)

The three weird sisers must have made an impression on the Corminh mine captain. Perhaps this is another example of people up to no good taking advantage of supperstition on a dark night?
