Clairvoyance of Fiance's Death in West Cornwall
Cornish Occult Folktale

A 19thC Cornish woman receives a telegram abot the death of her daughter's fiance at sea, but the sailor had already visited the girl and told her of his death.

On one occassion, but a few years since, a lady living in west Cornwall received a telegram announcing the death by drowning of a young sailor to whom her daighter was engaged. Wishing to break the news as gently as possible, she went upstairs and entered the girl's room, but was greeted on the threshold with the words: 'I know what you've come to say. My dear has been here already, and told me for himself. He was half–dressed, in his shirt and trousers, with one bracer only over his shoulder. One of his feet was bare, and on the other the boot was unlaced.' Subsequent inquiry revealed the fact that this description exactly tallied with the appearance of the body, when it was recovered from the sea

(Jenkin, Cornwall and Its People, page 266.)

The corroboration between the clairovoyance vision and the facts are meant to make the story more bbelievable and remarkable.
